Hyundai/Kia can use leasing to allow their customers to benefit from $7500 subsidy now before the IRA can be satisfied. Leasing subsidies don't require US sourced batteries and finale vehicle assembly. I saw an Ioniq5 $7500 leasing promotion on Hyundai's web site last week but nothing now on Hyundai nor Kia.

It may be that the EV5 will use LFP batteries produced in China? While the EV4 will be delayed until 2025 when the batteries (hopefully LFP) can be sourced in the US?

The US should focus on PHEV until battery become cheaper, safer, more environmentally friendly, more abundant, and longer range. A rapid conversion to PHEVs is better for customers, car manufacturers, and the environment. Alternatively, a 200HP 50 mile BEV, with a 50HP gas range extender also works well.
